Time to get out and explore

Fiscardo, on the northern tip of Kefalonia, is a beautiful vibrant traditional Venetian harbour, just a five minute stroll from Dorian luxury retreat. Relax by the quayside in one of the many tavernas, watching the fishing boats and visiting yachts. Amble through the cobbled streets with souvenir shops and lovely boutiques.

 

For the more active there are plenty of things to do in the Fiscardo area. Marked walking trails pass through old villages, ruins, forests and beautiful beaches.

There are several beautiful beaches to explore including Dafnoudi and Emplysi. Alaties, Foki and Jerusalem beaches all have tavernas.

On a practical note, Fiscardo has ATMs, two supermarkets, a bakery, pharmacy and medical centre.

If you want to explore further afield Kefalonia has plenty to offer. Its stunning natural beauty features cypress tree hillsides, small coves and crystal clear turquoise waters. Although popularised by the film ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ it remains quiet, peaceful and unspoilt.

 

Places of interest include the famous Myrtos beach, the Venetian fortress in the beautiful village of Assos, the Melissani caves and the ports of Agia Efimia and Sami. There are also monasteries, wild horses, turtles, windmills and vineyards. You may also wish to take a boat trip to explore other Ionian islands such as Ithaca, immortalised by Homer's Odyssey.

 

Direct flights from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh make this a very accessible destination. Dorian is an hour and a quarter's drive from the airport . You can hire a car or we can arrange airport transfer for 170 euros return.
