Top 5 boat trips from Fiscardo

The calm crystal clear waters around Fiscardo are perfect for spending the day on a boat. There are many options and we have picked 5 of our favourites that suit a variety of tastes and budgets.



1. Odysseas day trip to Ithaca From Fiscardo you can take a lovely boat trip to Ithaca aboard Odysseas, a traditional wooden caique. The boat takes a maximum of 40 people. Ithaca is the second smallest of the 7 Ionian islands and only 4km from Kefalonia.

Afales
Captain Christos and his crew will take you first to the beach at Afales bay on the northernmost tip of Ithaca. It is the only white sandy beach on Ithaca and can only be reached by boat. There is an opportunity to swim from the boat. Frikes
The next stop is the beautiful fishing village of Frikes, on the east coast of Ithaca. Here you can enjoy a coffee and delicious homemade cakes in the harbour. Kioni
You will then travel to the picturesque Kioni, with 3 traditional windmills at the entrance to the harbour. There is a good choice of tavernas for lunch on the waterfront and some lovely shops for browsing.

Swim stop
There is another swim stop in a beautiful secluded beach on the way back to Fiscardo. The trip starts and 10am and you return to Fiscardo by 5pm. The cost is about 37 euros per person.



2. Ionian Discoveries marine adventure

Many of our guests have enjoyed a wonderful day trip with Ionian Discoveries, aboard one of the last few traditional kaiki’s in the area. This is a marine adventure where the focus is on learning a bit about the area’s natural history and marine environment. The kaiki takes just 17 people which makes for a friendly atmosphere. Snorkelling
Under Fabio the experienced skipper’s direction you will learn the basics of snorkelling. Perfect in these crystal clear waters. For the more experienced there is a chance to explore dismantled World War 2 sea mines along the coast of Ithaca. You will then head to the island of Asteria in the middle of the channel between Kefalonia and Ithaca. Surrounded by unique rock formations and underwater reefs this area is perfect for viewing marine life. You may even spot an octopus. Lunch
From here you will head to a sheltered cove where you will enjoy a swim and typical Greek lunch with wine and soft drinks. Examples of the sea life seen are put in the onboard aquarium for all to view. Shipwreck Bay
The last stop is shipwreck bay where you can snorkel over shipwrecks in different stages of decay. The trip including lunch and use of snorkelling gear is about 66 Euros per person.



3. Romantica 2

If you would like to see a bit more of the Ionian Islands a day trip on Romantica 2 could be the answer. It is very comfortable with space inside with seating and a bar as well as big outdoor decks and fresh water showers. Perfect after the swim stops. Set off from Fiscardo at 10.30 on a day trip taking in 3 Ionian islands, Meganisi, Skorpios and Lefkadas.
Meganisi
Meganisi is a small island of unspoilt beauty. Here you will see the Papanikolis sea cave, 30 metres in depth, with stunning stalactites. It is the second largest cave in Greece and was used as a submarine hideout by the Greek navy in World War 2. Skorpios
You will next see Skorpios, legendary island of Aristotle Onassis. This remains a private island and there is just one beach accessible to the public by sea. It is here that you’ll have a swim stop. Lefkadas
Sivota is your next stop, one of the most beautiful bays on Lefkada. It is a pretty port, known for its vivid flowers and picturesque friendly tavernas. The colourful houses were built around a naturally formed bay, surrounded by lush vegetation. You return to Fiscardo at 5.30 and the cost is about 35 Euros per person.



4. Sailing Trip

If you prefer boating under sail, then Makis of Prime Sailing Kefalonia will take you on an unforgettable sailing experience. He offers a private cruise aboard his 42 ft. Bavara sailing boat which accommodates up to 8 people. From Fiscardo you can choose to set sail to Lefkada or Ithaca for the day. Drinks and snacks are provided and you choose the itinerary.
